Chefs in Schools inspires changes in school food by having chefs freely sharing their knowledge of what works well, both in kitchens and classrooms, to schools across the country. Their mission is to improve the health of children through improved school meals and food education. Since 2019, the Belazu Foundation has supported the training of two schools in West London.

We work to achieve our aims to improve children’s and families’ eating habits by:

  • Community cookery school: provide a space for schools and community groups to participate in cooking classes, a variety of workshops around growing, cooking, and eating their own food, and develop the ideas that work well in school food
  • Restaurant to school: training restaurant chefs to run school kitchens, transform school lunches, and teach children to cook
  • National and international change: Better is Possible is an initiative to motivate leaders to believe that they can change food culture and education in schools and communities, and provide them with the tools to do so
